Paulie's Push becomes Everyone's Push. Will you join him?
Paulie’s Push is the effort of retired United Airlines flight attendant and Milton, MA resident Paul Veneto to recognize the heroism of the ‘first, first responders’ of September 11th – the flight crews.
The theme this year, Everyone’s Push, will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the horrific 9/11 terrorist attacks. Paulie is looking for 9/11 family members, friends and current or retired airline crew members to join him on several of the legs of his push this year.
In 2021, to honor the memory of the heroes who battled terrorists in the skies that fateful morning, Paulie pushed an airline beverage cart 220 miles from Boston-Logan International Airport to Ground Zero, New York. Named a Hero in Travel by top travel blogger The Points Guy in 2022, Paulie has done the Push every year since 2021 in honor of the flight crews lost on 9/11 – including those of United Flight 175, the flight he worked just before it went back out that morning. He pushed to the Pentagon for American 77 in 2022, Shanksville for United 93 in 2023, and Ground Zero for American 11 in 2024.
Everyone’s Push will start at the Massachusetts 9/11 Memorial in Boston Public Garden on August 15th with a ceremony at 10 a.m. When Paulie’s cart reaches Ground Zero on September 11th, after pushing through 60 communities in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York, Paulie will have pushed his cart over 1,000 miles in honor of the 9/11 flight crews.
In many communities – including Boston – Paulie will have extra beverage carts so community members can join him in the Push. Paulie also plans to use the PBS U.S. History Collection’s 9/11 digital resources for teachers and students that were developed in partnership with the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund and GBH Education this year.
