9/11 Day of Service & Remembrance and Local “United We Serve” Volunteer Projects

The following volunteer projects have been organized in honor of September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance, and/or as part of the United We Serve Campaign.
 
6.25.09 Mass 9/11 Fund Food Pantry Stocking Event at Catholic Charities
8.15.09 MA 9/11 Fund Build Day 1 for Habitat for Humanity
9.11.09 Red Cross/Red Sox Beth Israel Day of Remembrance Blood Drive, 6 am - 1 pm at Fenway Park and 11 am -
6 pm City Hall.
9.11.09  MA 9/11 Fund Build Day 2 for Habitat for Humanity, 31 Ashton Street, Dorchester 02124. 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
9.11.09 Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund and Homes for Our Troops Event. Mother’s Walk, Rose Kennedy Greenway, Downtown Boston. 11 am - 2:30 pm.
9.11.09 Boston Cares Volunteer Project at Greater Boston Food Bank. This event is closed to the public. 11 am - 2:30 pm.
9.11.09 – 9.12.09 PRAY*SERVE*REFLECT: An ecumenical 9/11 Day of Service -Various locations throughout Eastern MA.
10.04.09 Children’s Room Fundraising Walk, Arlington Mass. 1 pm start.
11.21.09 Thanksgiving Service Project with the Salvation Army, Boston, MA.  Hours and more details TBD.
 
  As we continue to foster the spirit of volunteerism throughout the year, we are scheduling several days of service in 2010.
01.30.10 Stocking pantry shelves with Catholic Charities at their Yawkey Center food pantry, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm,
185 Columbia Road,
Dorchester, MA 02121.
If you are interested, please contact us at info@massfund.org or 617-482-8153 to sign up. As you can imagine, supplies are heavily depleted after the holiday season, so if you would like to donate food items, please feel free to bring them to the event. 
05.26.10    Remembering & Honoring Massachusetts Military Heroes – Memorial Day Flag Planting Project.  Join members of the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund as they create a display of thousands of flags on Boston Common for Memorial Day to honor all fallen Massachusetts service men and women.  Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, May 26th from 4p-9p to help plant flags at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Boston Common.  To volunteer, please contact Erica Cabag at the Mass Military Heroes Fund at 617-482-0444 or at ecabag@massmilitaryheroes.org.  The public is also welcome to join the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund on Thursday, May 27th at 10:00 am at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument as they read the names of the Massachusetts heroes fallen in service as a result of current military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  More information is at www.massmilitaryheroes.org.
